November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month

Each year in partnership with the Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Houses (OAITH), Optimism Place sells purple scarves to raise funds in support of our shelter and services.

The purple colour purple has come to represent gender-based violence internationally. The purple scarf is an outward symbol of our collective recognition of Woman Abuse Prevention Month each November and commitment to ending gender-based violence in our lifetime.

Our 2020 Wrapped in Courage campaign to recognize and bring awareness to Woman Abuse Prevention Month was an incredible success. In partnership with Kim McCarthy, we sold 65 scarves in support of Optimism Place.

We are very excited to continue partnering with Kim, and to continue our work toward the end of gender based violence in our lifetime!
