Your Rights and Responsibilities at Optimism Place

1. Rights

You can expect us to:

  • Treat you with respect and dignity
  • Provide you with an explanation of our policies on complaint and confidentiality
  • Support your right to make informed decisions
  • Assist you to clarify the purpose of our work together
  • Hold regular appointments in a place conducive to our work together
  • Regularly review the progress of our work
  • Demonstrate a commitment to work together
  • Let you know in advance if an appointment needs to be rescheduled
  • Respond to you in person or by telephone in a timely manner
  • Be flexible in responding to your needs, wherever possible
  • Involve family members - with your agreement - to support you
  • Connect you with community services that will best serve the needs of you and your children

2. Responsibilities

We expect you to:

  • Respect the staff’s personal boundaries outside of the workplace
  • Provide relevant, accurate information
  • Participate in determining and reviewing the goals of our work together
  • Demonstrate your commitment by being able and ready to work during appointments
  • Give us as much advance notice as possible if you cannot keep an appointment
  • Refrain from threatening or demonstrating abusive behavior toward yourself and others
  • Take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions
