Retiring our red shoes...

After 11 incredibly successful years, marked with your participation and support, Optimism Place would like to announce the retirement of our annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes event.

For over a decade, Walk-A-Mile has been an opportunity for men across Perth County to show their support for Optimism Place, and their commitment to ending the cycle of gender-based violence. This annual tradition will be remembered for the joy, laughter, awareness, and unity it brought to our community because of participants like you.

By participating in this event, whether once or annually, you have had an immeasurable impact on Perth County. We will fondly and forever remember the countless steps however unsteadily taken by you and recognize that these steps were not solely for fun nor funds but also for awareness. Participation in this event has been an ongoing and public commitment from the men in this county to stand against gender-based violence. The impact of your participation will be felt for years to come.

Walk-A-Mile could not have been the success that it was without the support and hard work of all those involved. We could not have done it without you.

Optimism Place would like to sincerely thank you for your involvement in Walk-A-Mile The decision to move on from this wonderful event was difficult, however we feel as though by opening ourselves to new opportunities that we can have a greater reach in public education regarding gender-based violence as well as a stronger impact in our work.

We encourage you to follow us on social media for updates regarding our exciting future endeavors.
