"I would like to recognize, and thank, each and every one of our donors. your ongoing support for us, and commitment to women, allows us to continue and grow the very essential work that we do in our community. Sometimes I find it can be difficult to display just how much of an impact this community has had on the lives of women and children... given what we do, there isn't always an opportunity to share results. Regardless, I can assure you that whether you're a monthly donor, an in-kind donor, or a Women of the Year sponsor, your contribution is valuable and life-changing."

As I step into 2021 as a monthly donor to Optimism Place, I feel a deeper sense of purpose and understanding of my own journey. I’m an artist and art educator using my creative talents to express myself. In 2020, I built an e-commerce art business and expanded into wearable art and home decor items. A portion of the proceeds from ALL sales is donated to OP. More exciting products and art work will be launched for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. If you’d like to be one of the first to know about new offerings please visit kimmcc.com and sign up for my newsletter on the home page.
My contributions to OP are a legacy project to honour a dear friend who passed away this past year. In her early adult life, a women’s shelter probably saved her life! It provided her and her two young children a safe place to land and regroup. She went on to acquire two university degrees, raise her children and break a cycle of domestic violence. I was always in awe of her strength, perseverance and desire for something better! Providing assistance to others in her name helps pay that forward.
I know first hand the amount of courage necessary to leave an unhealthy relationship and rewrite a sense of one’s future. Support is an essential component during that process. The tribe of angels that staff Optimism Place provide an invaluable resource in this wonderful community of Stratford. If I can make a bit of a difference assisting that mission then my heart is full.
Kim contributes a percentage of every sale directly to Optimism Place. View her art, clothing, and stationary lines here: www.kimmcc.com
"Everyday, I encounter amazing, creative, ambitious, caring & trailblazing women in Perth County. And there are also many other strong, resilient, intelligent & optimistic women that may not be as visible but we need to highlight what they represent in our community. These are the women living at Optimism Place.
Their willingness to commit to having a better life for themselves & their children is the kind of courage & strength that we need to celebrate. They are the women whose power within had been diminished by a partner, but only to find it return once they’re in the safe & supportive surroundings of Optimism Place.
It only takes one harmful relationship to put a woman on a path that they never thought they would be on. And it takes the steady hand of those working at Optimism Place for women to reach for it when they need it most. I support Optimism Place & I support every woman who walks through their doors."
Julie has been an ongoing supporter of Optimism Place, continuously supporting our Wrapped in Courage campaign and Women of the Year awards.
