Family Court Support

* Program funded by Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General

Services are free, tailored to your particular needs, and completely confidential. Both men and women can access our Family Court Support Program Worker. Men who access our services will be referred to Victim Services for assistance. Safe meeting sites are available throughout Perth County.

At Optimism Place we seek to support members of our community in a diverse variety of ways. Some of these supports include:

If you require any extra support, or have questions about whether we are able to meet your specific needs, please do not hesitate to call. Our advocate would be happy to discuss individualized supports and programming with you.

 

If you’ve experienced domestic abuse, a family court support worker can help you:

  • Understand the family court systems

  • Find a lawyer or access legal advice

  • Complete court papers and/or prepare evidence statements

  • Prepare personal safety plans for attending court

  • Make referrals to community services and programs 

  • Attending court with you

  • Attending lawyer's appointments with you; and

Legal Advocacy

At Optimism Place, our local advocate is available to help guide you through the criminal court system. Some examples for supports we can provide include:

  • accessing legal aid

  • accessing a lawyer

  • supporting victims of domestic violence; and

  • navigating peace bonds

We are able to offer our services and supports to women who are victims in legal proceedings, witnesses in criminal cases, and/or have been charged in a criminal proceeding.
